At the press conference held at The Verkhovna Rada, leader of the Standing Delegation stated that the 17th Annual Session of  the Parliamentary Assembly had for the first time discussed and assessed the situation and challenges in the field of security and cooperation as regards transparency within the scope of the OSCE.  

 

Oleh Bilorus dwelled upon the Resolution "Holodomor of Years 1932-1933 in Ukraine" adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly. He regards it as a moderate document that fails to include tough definitions and recriminations. O.Bilorus stated that the authors of the Resolution intended to demonstrate "the way, food resources had for the first time in humanity been exploited as the weapon against the peaceful unprotected population".

 

Leader of the Standing Delegation also commented upon the amendments to the Resolution introduced by other parliamentary delegations. Pursuant to the said amendments, the word "holodomor" should be replaced by such words as "famine" and "natural disaster", thus recognizing that Holodomor of 1932-1933 struck not only Ukraine, but also other States of the former USSR.

 

"Ukrainian delegation accomplished its mission, and will apply all efforts so that the UN General Assembly recognizes Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine," stated O.Bilorus.  

 

O.Bilorus also stated that Ukrainian delegation upheld the Resolutions "Chornobyl" and "Declaration of Concern with the State of Security in Georgia".

 

O.Stoyan, People´s Deputy of Ukraine, stated that Oleh Bilorus, leader of Ukrainian delegation, was re-elected Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

 

Members of Ukrainian delegation also commented upon other events they attended within the scope of the 17th Annual Session of the OSCE PA.
